Expandable container house manufacturer: what we actually do

We build the expandable units ourselves in Suzhou — frame welding, panel lamination, the track and hinge assembly that makes the expansion work, and the factory test of every unit before it ships. We are not a trading company reselling another factory’s catalogue.

What “manufacturer” changes for a buyer:

  • OEM and ODM are possible. Shell colour, glazing layout, internal partitions, electrical standard (EU/US/AU) and branding can all be specified — because the tooling is ours.
  • Minimum order is one unit, but the economics change at 10+. A 40HQ carries 1–2 expandable units, so volume orders are quoted per container rather than per unit.
  • Factory test before shipment. Every unit is expanded, checked for track alignment and joint sealing, photographed, then collapsed for transport. We send the photos with the shipment.
  • Documents with the goods. Material certificates for the steel frame and panels, the panel fire test report where your market requires it, and structural drawings for your engineer.

If you are comparing manufacturers, ask three questions: who welds the frame (in-house or subcontracted), what happens if a track misaligns on site, and whether the fire report is for the panel you are actually buying. Those three answers separate factories from resellers.

FAQ

How much does an expandable container house cost?

Factory prices range from about $9,000 for a 20ft two-room unit to $15,000 for a 40ft luxury two-room model, with total landed cost typically 20-40% higher for distant markets. See the price table above and our full cost guide for detail.

How does an expandable house expand on site?

It ships folded to a compact size, then extends on heavy-duty tracks to roughly three times its transport footprint. Sealed joints keep it weather-tight after expansion.

How long does expansion take?

Expansion is quick — the mechanism opens in minutes to an hour depending on size, with no welding required for standard layouts.

Is an expandable container house good for resorts?

Yes. With French windows, optional terraces, and spacious interiors, it is a popular choice for scenic homestays, resorts, and vacation rentals where space and aesthetics matter.

Can I customize the layout and finish?

Layouts, insulation, terraces, and interior finishes are all customizable, with luxury finishes available for high-end projects.
