There is no single global certificate for a container house. In practice you need a combination:

What Each Mark Actually Covers (and Doesn’t)

  • CE confirms the product meets applicable EU legislation and that the manufacturer has followed conformity assessment. It does not mean a national building authority has approved your specific installation.

How to Verify a Supplier’s Claims

A logo on a website proves nothing. Verify every claim:

  1. Request the actual certificate — a PDF with a certificate number, not a screenshot or logo.
  2. Check the issuing body is accredited — for CE, look for a notified body where one is required; for UL, an NRTL; for ISO, an accredited registrar.
  3. Confirm the scope — does the certificate cover the specific model and the components you are buying?
  4. Check validity dates — expired or suspended certificates are common.
  5. Verify the certificate number with the issuing body directly, using their online registry where available.
  6. Match the legal entity — the certificate holder must be the company you are actually contracting with.

Red flags: certificates that cover “all products”, no certificate number, a certificate holder different from the seller, or a refusal to allow independent inspection.

Ask which certificates are included with the order and which are the buyer’s responsibility, and put that in the contract.

  • “CE means I can build it anywhere in the EU.” No — CE covers product conformity, not your local planning permission.
  • “ISO 9001 proves quality.” It proves a documented quality system, not that your unit meets your building code.
