An ablution container is the mandatory companion to any dormitory block. No camp is approved without sanitary facilities — and on remote sites, prefabricating the whole block off site is what makes the sanitary provision predictable.

What is an ablution container?

Definition: A 20ft container converted into a toilet and shower block with separate male and female sections, arriving pre-plumbed and pre-wired. Also known as: toilet and shower container, portable toilet block, camp ablution unit, site sanitary container.

Product overview

The container body is divided internally into male and female sections, each with its own entrance. Cubicle partitions are moisture-resistant panels with an antibacterial finish, and the floor is laid to falls so that all water reaches the waste outlet — no ponding, which is the usual failure point of site-built sanitary blocks.

Ventilation is mechanical, with exhaust fans and louvred vents fitted with insect mesh. This matters in tropical and desert camps where still, humid air inside a cubicle is the most common complaint from workers.

Male and female sections can be equal, or weighted to the workforce ratio. Where a camp runs male-only shifts, a single unisex block with external access is often the practical choice.

Two finishes

  • Colourful corrugated version — painted corrugated cladding, used where the block is visible to the public: scenic areas, tourist sites, event venues, municipal facilities.
  • White version — plain white panels, the standard for construction and mining camps where the block sits inside the site boundary.

Both use identical internals; only the external finish differs.

Applications

Labor camps, construction sites, mining camps, scenic areas and public facilities, and temporary event sites.

Complete the camp

Ablution containers are normally ordered alongside our K-type dormitories and site guard houses, all from the same camp and utility range. Colours and finishes match across the camp and everything ships in one consignment. Tell us your headcount and shift pattern and we will size the sanitary provision for you.
